After studying at the Universities of York and Essex, Andrew Phillips' early commissions came from Thames TV and the BBC. He has since written for all the major broadcasters in the UK, developing a highly original voice combining the worlds of classical music and electronica. He has worked on a wide range of documentaries and dramas starring, amongst others, Derek Jacobi, Charles Dance, Olivia Williams, and Antony Sher. He has worked as writer/producer and toured as a performer with One Giant Leap and slovo, and in 2009 signed his electronica/ classical album 'grasscut' to Ninja Tune records, for release in Spring 2010. Recent commissions include 'The Life and Loss of Karen Woo' for BBC3 and 'Bravo's Deadliest Mission' for Channel 4 / HBO. He is signed to Ninja Tune records as grasscut and his album '1 inch : 1/2 Mile' was selected in The Sunday Telegraph as one of the top ten albums of 2010, and was album of the month in Mojo magazine, and received 4/45 reviews in Word & Q |
