In 2004, Danny won the BBC Tony Doyle New Writing Award. His writing credits include Doctors and EastEnders, and various children’s programmes including The Octonauts and Fleabag Monkeyface. He has many years experience as a story analyst for the UK’s leading film companies, and, as a result, is a much sought-after script consultant. Danny is moving into writing/directing, and has made three short films and a comedy web series to date. Danny is a proactive member of the UK screenwriting community. His website ‘Scriptwriting in the UK’ has been running since 2005 (http://www.dannystack.com), offering advice and support to new writers. He set up the Red Planet Prize with Tony Jordan in 2007, and the writing competition has been a huge success. In 2010, Danny created the UK Scriptwriters podcast (which he co-hosts http://ukscriptwriters.podomatic.com), and the podcast was runner-up in the European Podcast Award 2011. Danny was also a runner-up in the inaugural Chicken House/The Times Book Award and Shine Pictures Big Idea, both with regular collaborator Sam Morrison. Prior to pursuing a writing career, Danny was a commissioning assistant in Channel 4's Entertainment department, working on the channel's comedy series, including Ali G, Black Books and Spaced. |
