Guy Masterson was educated at Christ's Hospital School, Cardiff University, UCLA and LAMDA. He became an actor in 1985 while in Hollywood where he appeared in over twenty plays before returning to London in 1990. He formed his own theatre company (Theatre Tours International) in 1991 and has since presented and/or directed and/or performed in and/or written over 50 productions originating mainly at the Edinburgh Festival and garnering over 30 awards and nominations. Guy continues to produce shows prolifically at the Edinburgh Festival and produced and directed MORECAMBE (a celebration of the life of Eric Morecambe and starring Bob Golding) which transferred to the West End and won the Olivier Best Entertainment Award.  MORECAMBE also toured extensively in the UK.

Guy also produced and performed in the one-man show SHYLOCK at Edinburgh in 2011. Written by Gareth Armstrong (and previously performed and directed by Gareth) the story is told by Tubal, Shylock's friend. SHYLOCK has toured extensively at home and abroad.  At the 2012 Edinburgh's Fringe, Guy gave a solo performance in THE HALF by Richard Dormer and adapted and directed THE SOLDIER'S SONG by Ken Lukowiak. He then directed THE ODD COUPLE for Belfast's Theatre at the Mill along with ABSOLUTION and BILL CLINTON HERCULES which showcased at Park Theatre London. Earlier this year, Guy directed the hugely-successful world premiere of the musical THE MARVELLOUS ELEPHANT MAN at the Adelaide Fringe and Melbourne International Comedy Festival in Australia. Back in the UK and following on from his successful 2019 season at the Fringe, Guy’s critically acclaimed production of THE SHARK IS BROKEN, a play highlighting the behind-the-scenes drama of JAWS, opened at the Ambassadors Theatre London in October ’21. The production will now open at the Golden Theatre on Broadway on August 10th. 2023.
