“I have known James Larkin for over twenty years and have worked with him in theatre, film and radio. He is an actor of exceptional talent and intelligence. He is a professional of the utmost dedication and commitment. His work as a Director shows great visual flair and intellectual command, combined with a vastly entertaining style.”
Kenneth Branagh, Actor /Director.
“James is clearly extremely skilled at directing large ensemble casts. Only the absolute finest television Directors are able to operate at this technically complex level, yet still delver sensitive drama that engages the viewer.”
Tom Verica, Showrunner for Shonda Rhimes’ For the People and Scandal for abc, USA.
“I directed James when he was an actor, and he never failed to impress me with his incredible eye for even the most detailed nuances. His understanding of his fellow actors and his ability to bring out the best performances from those around him was second to none.”
Dame Judi Dench.
“I only hire directors who possess the high-end technical skills, and artistic vision necessary to successfully execute major Broadcast Television Productions. James is exactly such a Director, and he is able to consistently handle the disparate elements that go into Major Drama Productions and meld them into a coherent whole – an ability possessed only by the best in the business.”
Oliver Kent, Head of BBC Continuing Drama.
James’ USP is performance. Having trained at RADA as an actor, and having been directed by other Actor/Directors such as JUDI DENCH and KENNETH BRANAGH, and Directors like SAM MENDES, MIKE LEIGH and PETER KOSMINSKY in Theatre and Film, he has a uniquely qualified handle on working with Actors. His visual style is original, detailed and has Cinematic Scale. But he is also fully aware of, and experienced with meeting tough Television Schedules.
