After a drama degree at Bristol University, Julia Crouch spent ten years devising, directing and writing for the theatre. During this time she had twelve plays produced, co-founded Bristol's Public Parts Theatre Company and spent two years on the IBA Regional Theatre Director Scheme. Three children later, she had somehow become an award winning graphic/website designer and illustrator. An MA in Sequential Illustration led her back home to writing. Since then, she has produced three illustrated children's books and many short stories for adults. She lives in Brighton with her husband, the actor and playwright Tim Crouch, and those three children. CUCKOO is her first novel. Current Publication: EVERY VOW YOU BREAK, Headline, (29th March 2012): The Wayland family - Lara and Marcus and their three children - leave England to spend a long, hot summer in Trout Island, Upstate New York. Lara, still reeling from an abortion that Marcus insisted on, hopes the summer away from home will give her time to learn to love her husband again. A chance meeting at a party reacquaints the family with Marcus's old actor friend, Stephen, with whom Lara once had an affair. Lara feels herself drawn towards Stephen and they pick up their secret relationship where they left off. Lara knows she's playing a dangerous game; what she doesn't know is that it's also a deadly one. Praise for EVERY VOW YOU BREAK: "Julia Crouch writes so well that her novels are even more satisfying the second time around, even when you know where the bodies are buried. That's how good she is." Julie Birchill "Compellingly reveals the conflict beneath an apparently perfect happy family, and how what you long for can lead you to darker places than you imagined. An ingenious mix of heady romance and unsettling thriller." Penny Hancock, author ofTideline
