Alain Claude Sulzer wins Prix Medicis Etranger

Congratulations to Swiss author Alain Claude Sulzer for winning this
year’s Prix Medicis Etranger, one of Europe’s biggest literary prizes.
Alain Claude Sulzer’s novel A PERFECT WAITER (UN GARCON PARFAIT) was
published by Jacqueline Chambon at Actes Sud in France. Alain fought
off stiff competition from Ian McEwan, Thomas Pynchon, Don DeLillo,
Richard Ford and Denis Johnson.

The list of past winners includes
eminent writers such as Milan Kundera, Doris Lessing, Umberto Ecco,
Joseph Heller, Thomas Bernhard, Paul Auster, Alessandro Baricco, Orhan
Pamuk, Michael Ondaatje, Philip Roth. A PERFECT WAITER, which is
Sulzer’s international breakthrough novel, is being published by Epoca
in German, Bloomsbury in the UK and USA; Ambo Anthos in Holland;
Jacqueline Chambon/Actes Sud in France; ADV in Italy; Quidnovi in
Portugal; El Aleph in Spain and Muza in Poland.
