Gervais Boosts Golden Globe Ratings

Sunday night's Golden Globes ceremony was seen by 16.9m people in the US, up 14% from 2009, viewing figures show.

Hosted
by Ricky Gervais, the show was shown live in all US time zones, unlike
previous years, where it was broadcast with a time delay.

But Sunday's figures were a huge improvement on 2007, when the writers' strike left the show bereft of Hollywood glamour. Just
six million people tuned in to that year's ceremony, which was little
more than a news conference, with TV presenters reading out the list of
winners in 25 categories, BBC news reports.

Our warm congratulations to all the winners including Toni Collette scooping Best Actress in a Television Series (comedy or musical) for The United States of Tara.
