THE SECRET DIARIES OF MISS ANNE LISTER

The opening night gala film of this year's London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival is directed by James Kent for the BBC. Starring Maxine Peake and set in early 19th Century Yorkshire, it tells the true story of a pioneering young woman based on her own coded journals.

It will be broadcast on BBC2, and will also open the San Francisco Gay Film Festival in June.
