Actor JONNY OWEN tops Amazon Music Charts

Actor and writer Jonny Owen has topped the Amazon music charts with a charity single.

The band, THE STAND features Jonny on lead vocals, CATATONIA songwriter and guitarist Owen Powell, Bassist Guto Pryce of SUPER FURRY ANIMALS, and Drummer Ryan Richards from million-selling band FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND.

The song, I'LL BE THERE is the oldest football song in the world.  It was sung by Welsh miners during the General Strike of 1926.  The aim of the single, the first ever recording of the song, is to raise money for a statue to be built at the Cardiff City football ground of legendary captain Fred Keenor. 

Keenor was an extraordinary man: twice injured in the Battle of the Somme he was told he'd never play again.  Not only did he overcome his injuries, but he captain his home town club to victory in the 1927 FA Cup.

I'LL BE THERE hit the #1 spot beating Cheryl Cole, Westlife and JLS.
