AMPHIBIANS named Time Out's Critics' Choice

AMPHIBIANS, a new play by Steve Waters, directed by Cressida Brown, has opened at the Bridewell Theatre and been named this week's Critics' Choice in Time Out.

The space, originally a Victorian swimming pool, has been returned to its former state to create a compelling and unusual setting (accompanied by an atmospheric soundscape by Gregory Clarke) for this story about two ex-Olympic swimmers, played by Louise Ford (pictured) and Sam Heughan, coming to terms with the passing of their glory days.

The show runs until 28th January.

"Cressida Brown's imaginative production"... "an atmospheric and hugely promising work, at its best when it explores the churning depths beneath the calm surface of the mind" (Guardian)

"It's so atmospheric you can almost picture for yourself the years of lane-ploughing that have gone on here" (Telegraph)

"A rippling Sam Heughan and poised Louise Ford" (Telegraph)

"full of wonder and empathy for extreme athletes in their absurdity and glory" (Times)

"Cressida Brown's direction makes it extraordinary: both detailed and fluid" (Observer)

"A lovely and elusive piece of fringe theatre" (Time Out)
