Alastair Sooke presents ROMANCING THE STONE
Tune into BBC Four at 9.00pm on Wednesday 9th February as Alastair Sooke presents episode one of the brand new three-part series entitled ROMANCING THE STONE: THE GOLDEN AGES OF BRITISH SCULPTURE.
In episode one, entitled 'Masons of God', Alastair visits St Georges Chapel in Windsor Castle to examine a series of impressive wooden carvings called misericords, hidden discreetly under the choir stalls and provides a look at how the era's sculpture casts a new light on medieval times in Britain.
Alastair Sooke is one of Britain’s leading arts journalists and
broadcasters. He is deputy art critic of The Daily Telegraph, which he
joined as a trainee in 2003. In 2010, he wrote and presented Modern
Masters, a four-part series about modern art for BBC One. He also
reports for The Culture Show on BBC Two and has contributed to a wide
range of arts programmes on radio and television.
