Julian Barnes shortlisted for The Man Booker Prize

United Agents wishes a warm Congratulations to Julian Barnes. The Sense of an Ending is among the six books shortlisted for this year’s Man Booker Prize, his fourth time on the Booker short list (following Flaubert’s Parrot in 1984, England, England in 1998, and Arthur and George in 2005).

The judges’ selection this year includes two first time novelists, and four books from independent publishers. Alongside THE SENSE OF AN ENDING, are Jamrach’s Menagerie by Carol Birch (Canongate), The Sister’s Brothers by Patrick deWitt (Granta), Half Blood Blues by Esi Edugyan (Serpent’s Tail), Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman (Bloomsbury) and Snowdrops by A.D.Miller (Atlantic).

The Man Booker Prize was first awarded in 1969 to promote the finest in fiction. The winner of the 2011 Prize will be announced on Tuesday 18 October at a dinner at London’s Guildhall and will be broadcast on the BBC.
