DICKENS' WOMEN in London

Following a hugely successful tour of Australia and New Zealand, Miriam Margolyes' one-woman show, DICKENS' WOMEN arrives in the UK this weekend, starting with 2 shows in London, before heading of on a Nationwide tour including a two-and-a-half week run at this August's Edinburgh Festival. The tour then heads to America and Canada in the Autumn.

Described as one of the greatest one-woman shows of all time, DICKENS' WOMEN pays homage to some of English literature’s most iconic women, including Mrs. Micawber from David Copperfield, Miss Havisham in Great Expectations and Mrs. Gamp from Martin Chuzzlewit. Throughout the play Miriam uses 23 of Dickens’ female creations to explore the man himself, revealing everything from the raucous humour of his characterisations to the darker, more sinister aspects of his life and work.

DICKENS' WOMEN was originally developed by Miriam Margolyes and Sonia Fraser for the 1989 Edinburgh Festival, and in 1992, Dickens' Women was nominated for the prestigious Olivier Award. This new tour for 2012 coincides with Dickens' 200th birthday celebrations.

"one of those rare productions where there are no apparent flaws", Catherine Lambert, Sunday Herald Sun (Melbourne 2012)
