THE PROPHET arrives at the Gate

Christopher Haydon’s production of Hassan Abdulrazzak’s new play, THE PROPHET, is now playing at the Gate.  It examines the turbulence of an ossifying marriage, and how the couple become inextricably drawn into the political upheavals in Egypt.

Christopher Haydon’s outstanding new production reaches the parts other plays don’t.  Visceral, verbally dextrous, edgy, exciting, darkly humorous and downright riveting...  This is a production not to be missed; it’s not a comfortable ride but it’s one well worth taking.
Whatsonstage *****

Stimulatingly sets a portrait of a dysfunctional marriage against a broad historical canvas.
Guardian ****

Christopher Haydon's production has a freshness that propels it, making its more painful passages even more forceful.
