iFeatures2 Autumn Development Projects
The Den, to be directed by Al Mackay and written by Ed Hime, The Summer Child, to be directed by Esther Richardson, and Rachel Tunnard's I Could Live Yours have made it through to the last 8 on the iFeratures 2 development scheme.
Creative England, BFI Film Fund and BBC Films have selected eight projects for the full development stage of iFeatures2.
The eight, from an original slate of 16, will now go through a period of paid script development before three films are greenlit into production in early 2013, on budgets of £350,000 each. The partners will fully finance.
Successful applicants include BAFTA-nominated Martin Radich, Screen International Star of Tomorrow Jonathan Entwistle, shorts director Alex Taylor whose Kids Might Fly picked up the Special Jury prize at SXSW, editor Rachel Tunnard (Skeletons) who was recently named in BAFTA’s Brits to Watch, two-time Edinburgh Fringe First winner and shorts director Guy Myhill, Misfits Online director Al Mackay, TV director David Jackson (Clocking Off and No Angels) and Nottingham Playhouse and Soho Theatre director Esther Richardson whose film work includes shorts The Cake and Wings.
They are joined by writers Ed Hime (Skins), Ed Aldridge (Tan Lines), Regina Moriarty (C4 Coming Up) and advertising copywriter turned screenwriter Ross Jameson.
Rounding out the teams are producers; Michael Berliner, Dominic Buchanan, Rachel Dargavel, Finlay Pretsell, Nicola Bowen, Miranda Fleming, Lee Goombridge and Nicola Clayton.
Creative England also plans to offer further development investment outside of iFeatures2 to a number of the projects that didn’t make it through to the last eight.
Tristan Goligher, iFeatures2 executive producer, said: “From a slate of 16 strong projects it was not an easy process to choose eight. But just a glance at those selected ideas, and teams shows the quality of emerging filmmakers in the UK and the commitment of iFeatures2 to the most distinctive voices and stories.”
Two of the films from the original iFeatures recently received their first public outings. Al Siddons’ In the Dark Half was released theatrically by Verve Pictures while Kasia Klimkiewicz’s Flying Blind premiered at the 2012 Edinburgh International Film Festival where it was nominated for the Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature.
