Joe Hammond's WHERE THE MANGROVE GROWS at 503

Joe Hammond’s new play, WHERE THE MANGROVE GROWS, has opened at Theatre503 in a production directed by Tamara Harvey.

Families? Been it – seen it – done it. Got the badge. And I’ll tell you this for nothing, it’s one big con job.” Twelve year-old Shaun just can’t work it out. Why hasn’t his Mum come to visit? Why has his care-worker taken away his picture book? And who is the man at the window calling his name? With a bed for a boat and a piece of skirting board for an oar, Shaun sets off for the swamps where the mangroves grow in this poignant, darkly enchanting tale of a lost boy’s deliverance.

Joe, a previous member of the Royal Court Studio Writers’ Group, is here seeing his work receive its first full production.

The production plays until 1st December and tickets can be bought here.
