NINEVEH comes to the Riverside Studios

Three men sit in purgatory, playing and living in their dreams with nothing but their memories to haunt them.  Written by Julia Pascal and directed by Ailin Conant, Ailin spent a year speaking to ex-soldiers from Rwanda, Lebanon, Israel and Kashmir about what it means to return to civilian life.   The result is NINEVEH, a Theatre Temoin production which runs at the Riverside Studios until May 11.

"In a powerful ensemble,. Yaron Shavi is brilliiant as L'Idiot Savant" Joel .................. the power of the voices being conveyed, Pascal's comic touch and the cast's fearless performances combine to hold our attention"                    Time Out

" .........a Beckettian quality to this piece that charts a course through bleak tragedy and dark comedy ....... characters trapped in an afterlife while forced to confront the decisions and deeds that led them to purgatory.............."     John Nathan Jewish Chronicle ***

"........... Julia Pascal's script draws on myth and magic realism, and there are shades of both Sartre's Huis Clos and Waiting for Godot as the men try to make sense of their situation.   At times it feels as if we are not just inside the whale's belly but in the nightmarish landscapes of the men's minds ................. it take the arrival of a child with a sewn-up mouth to help them find a way to speak the truth..............."    The Guardian
