Anthony Chen wins Camera d'Or at Cannes

Anthony Chen took home the coveted Camera d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival on Sunday night for his debut feature ILO ILO, fighting off competition from 25 films across the festival for the prize.

Camera d'Or jury president Agnes Varda explained why the jury were unanimous in their decision to award Ilo Ilo the prize saying  "we were touched by four characters, and the story of a family in Singapore. The director's intelligence and sensitivity bring forth very important issues—childhood, immigration, class struggles, the economic crisis.”

The film's UK rights have just been acquired by Soda Pictures.
