MRS LOWRY AND SON unveiled at Trafalgar Studios

Abbey Wright directs Martyn Hesford’s new play, MRS LOWRY & SON, which opens tonight at the Trafalgar Studios and features set designs by Richard Kent and lighting design by David Plater.

It is 1934. L.S. Lowry is a rent collector and living at home with his mother who has taken to her bed for the last 10 years demanding food, gossip and complete devotion.

It is only at night, while his mother sleeps, that he can go to the attic and paint.

The play examines the overlooked genius of the Northern painter, who made the industrial setting of his native Pendlebury the subject of his life’s work.

MRS LOWRY & SON plays in Studio 2 until Saturday 23rd November and tickets can be bought here.
