Hong Khaou receives Sundance Institute Global Prize

Writer/director Hong Khaou has been selected as one of this year’s Sundance Institute/Mahindra Global Filmmaking Award winners, for his feature project MONSOON. The annual awards, which were presented at Sundance on Tuesday, spotlight emerging independent international filmmakers.

MONSOON follows the lives of two young men visiting present day Vietnam, who are confronted with the war’s ramifications nearly forty years after its end.

Hong’s debut feature LILTING, starring Ben Whishaw and Cheng Pei Pei, premiered at Sundance’s World Cinema Competition last week.
