BELLE hits UK Screens
Period feature BELLE opens in UK theatres on June 13th, having opened recently in the US to rave reviews. Directed by Amma Asante, the film follows Dido Elizabeth Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), a mixed race heiress, as she navigates the often hostile waters of eighteenth century British high society. Rejected by the establishment on the basis of her colour, Dido is drawn to aspiring young lawyer, John Davinier (Sam Reid), as he endeavours to shed light publically on a slavery scandal that has the potential to rock both the British legal system and society to its very core.
Produced by Damian Jones, the film also features Tom Wilkinson, Emily Watson, Tom Felton and Alan McKenna. Marese Langan is Hair and Make-Up Designer.
