BEYOND CARING at the Yard Theatre

Alexander Zeldin has written and directed a compelling new play, BEYOND CARING, that has just opened at the Yard Theatre in Hackney Wick.

It’s an excoriating but compassionate and darkly humorous play about four cleaners working the night shift in a meat factory.  Drawing on meticulous research, first-hand experience and testimonies from people on zero-hours contracts, BEYOND CARING examines a nether world that most of us prefer not to think about too closely, and is a powerful theatrical experience.

this understated 90 minutes is quietly devastating. As time moves, slowly, the whole thing gradually becomes more and more heightened, emotionally and theatrically.

‘Beyond Caring’ is so taut and pregnant with subtext that you can’t take your eyes off it for a second. Zeldin’s writing has a painterly precision – not unlike Annie Baker’s or Mike Leigh’s – and it’s matched by five infinitesimal performances of real skill. The combination is quietly devastating.
Time Out

It runs at the Yard theatre until Saturday 26th July and tickets can be bought here.
