Michael Symmons Roberts nominated for BBC Audio Drama Awards

Congratulations to Michael Symmons Roberts whose BBC Radio 4 play, MEN WHO SLEEP IN CARS, has been shortlisted in two categories at the BBC Audio Drama Awards: best original audio drama and best radio drama script. The judges hailed the play as 'timely, visceral and lyrical... [examining] the underbelly of contemporary urban life in surprising ways.'

Set in Manchester, the play takes place one night in the week preceding England’s first World Cup fixture, three men whose lives have been turned upside down by the recession sleep in their cars on the streets of Manchester. They listen to the radio for company, hearing the build-up to the World Cup, where some of the most powerful men in the world of sport compete on the world stage. As the play develops we gradually learn how these three came to this, and how their lives interconnect.

The results will be announced at a ceremony on 1st February. To learn more about the Awards, please visit their website
