IFTA nominations announced

The Irish Film and Television Academy have announced the shortlist of nominees for the IFTA Film and Drama Awards.

In both the film and television categories, UA talent features strongly across the board:

- Sarah Greene's performance in NOBLE has secured her a nomination for Actress in a Supporting Role (Film)

- Eddie Redmayne and Julianne Moore are both recognized with nominations for International Actor (THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING) and International Actress (STILL ALICE). '71, starring Richard Dormer and Valene Kane, was also acknoelegded in the International category for International Film

- Jamie Dornan gets his third IFTA nomination for THE FALL, as Actor in a Lead Role (Drama), after a double-win at last year's awards. The success of THE FALL is also acknowledged with a Best Drama nomination, and featured Valene Kane, Colin Morgan and Vincent Walsh during its 2nd series run

- Andrew Scott lands two Supporting Actor nominations, one in Film for PRIDE and one in Drama for his turn as Morriarty on SHERLOCK: HIS LAST VOW

- Maria Doyle Kennedy is acknowledged with an Actress in a Lead Role (Drama) nomination for CORP + ANAM

- Michael Lennox's work on BOOGALOO & GRAHAM has secured him a Short Film nomination, following his BAFTA-win and Oscar-nomination earlier this year. Also featured in the Short Film nominees line-up is SKUNKY DOG, starring Ryan McParland

- Colm McCarthy, who helmed the entire 2nd series of PEAKY BLINDERS, is nominated in the Director (Drama) category

Michael Hirst's VIKINGS takes seven nominations in total, including one for Best Drama 

- IN A HOUSE THAT CEASED TO BE, produced by Paul Duane, is up for the George Morrison Feature Documentary Award 

- One of the films leading the field with nine nominations, FRANK, featured the writing talents of Jon Ronson. Louise Kiely did the additional casting for the film, and also headed the casting for GLASSLAND

- GAME OF THRONES, starring Kit Harrington and Natalie Dormer, once again secures numerous nominations, bringing up its total to 14 over the last four years

The winners will be announced at a ceremony taking place on Sunday 24th May at the Mansion House in Dublin.
