Welsh BAFTA Award Winners Announced

The winners of this year’s BAFTA Cymru awards, which honour achievements in production and broadcasting within film and television in Wales, were announced last night at a ceremony in Cardiff.

Ashley Way received the award for Best Director: Fiction for Welsh miner’s strike drama Y Streic a Fi (The Strike and Me), which also won Best Television Drama.

Set Fire to the Stars, directed and co-written by Andy Goddard, and edited by Mike Jones, received three awards, for Best Production Design, Original Music, and Make-Up and Hair.

Welsh language Drama series Tir, directed by Lee Haven Jones, received the award for Best Writer.

Ruth Caleb produced A Poet in New York, which was awarded both Best Feature/Television Feature and Best Special and Visual Effects. It was shot by Martin Fuhrer BSC.

Finally, Best Costume Design was awarded to Trisha Biggar for Da Vinci’s Demons.
