SUFFRAGETTE

The BFI London Film Festival 2015 opened last night with the European Premiere of SUFFRAGETTE, directed by Sarah Gavron and written by Abi Morgan.

The British historical period drama, starring Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep and Helena Bonham-Carter, tells the remarkable and thrilling untold true story of the real foot soldiers of the Suffragette movement of the late 19th and early 20th Century.

UA clients feature both on and off screen. Natalie Press stars as Emily Wilding - Davison, a militant activist who fought for women's suffrage in Britain and Samuel West plays Benedict Houghton. Shelley Longworth also features as Miss Samson.

The film was edited by Barney Pilling ACE and Lynsey Miller was 2nd Unit Director.

'Suffragette is a tart reminder to those who are casual about democratic gender equality that votes for women were not something that naturally evolved due to the ruling class's innate decency; they had to be fought for.' - The Guardian ****

'It's written, shot and acted with a hot-blooded urgency that reminds you the struggle it depicts is an ongoing one - and which shakes up this most well-behaved of genres with a surge of civil disobedience.' - The Telegraph ****

Suffragette opens in the UK on 12th October.
