WE'RE DOOMED! THE DAD'S ARMY STORY on BBC2

The War on the home front returns to BBC2 this Christmas, in a one-off prime time comedy WE'RE DOOMED! THE DAD'S ARMY STORY.

The hour-long special will tell the story of the sitcom DAD'S ARMY, and trace the show's origins, from writer Jimmy Perry's initial idea in 1967 until the transmission of the first episode in 1968. The hit show, starring Arthur Lowe and John Le Mesurier, is still one of BBC2’s highest-rating shows 40 years after it was first on air.

WE'RE DOOMED! THE DAD'S ARMY STORY stars Richard Dormer as David Croft, a producer on his last shot to keep his job at the BBC and Kieran Hodgson plays Ian Lavender, who famously played Private Frank Pike in the hit show.

It premieres on Tuesday 22nd December at 9.00pm and is repeated on Christmas Day at 10.20pm on BBC2.
