WAR & PEACE debuts on BBC1

The BBC's new six-part adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's epic WAR AND PEACE got underway last night with critics calling it "nothing less than a victory" (The Daily Mail) and "a thrilling trumpet blast for the new year" (The Telegraph). Bringing nineteenth century Russia thrillingly to life, this latest, epic version of the timeless classic following the fortunes of five aristocratic families over the course of the Napoleonic wars, features Jessie Buckley and Rory Keenan as Princess Marya Bolkonskaya and Bilibin, respectively. Edward K. Gibbon designed the suitably sumptuous costumes and Dominc Lieven acted as a historical consulatant for the BBC-Weinstein Comapny co-production.
