2016 BAFTA nominations announced

Stephen Fry and Gugu Mbatha-Raw were up bright and early this morning to announce this year's BAFTA nominations, and there was good news in store for an abundance of UA talent:

Eddie Redmayne, a BAFTA winner last year for his performance in THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING, is recognised once again in the Best Actor category this year for his performance in THE DANISH GIRL. Also recognised for her work on THE DANISH GIRL is Jan Sewell, a nominee in the Best Make Up & Hair category.

Kate Winslet is nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for her performance in STEVE JOBS, a category she won in 1996 for her work in SENSE AND SENSIBILITY. She won the BAFTA for Best Actress in 2009 for her role in THE READER and her nomination this year is her eighth overall.

Nominated in the Best Documentary category is Stevan Riley's LISTEN TO ME MARLON.

THE LOBSTER, starring Olivia Colman, Léa Seydoux and Angeliki Papoulia, was recognised in the Best British Film category.

And, as announced earlier in the week, Taron Egerton has been nominated for the EE BAFTA Rising Star award, the only award voted for by members of the general public: to cast your vote in this category please click here

Congratulations to all the nominees, and tune in to BBC1 on 14th February when the winners will be announced from the cermony at the Royal Opera House. A full list of this year's nominees can be found here.
