RSC announces 2016 Season

The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced its programme for Winter 2016, in the year of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

In the Swan Theatre, Blanche McIntyre will direct Shakespeare and Fletcher’s late tragicomedy The Two Noble Kinsmen, from 17th August.  Joining it in repertory will be Loveday Ingram’s revival of Aphra Behn’s roaring comedy The Rover, running from 8th September.  Both plays featured in the Swan’s opening season in 1986.

In the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, James Cooney joins the companies of King Lear, Hamlet and Cymbeline.

They join the current season, where James Fenton’s stage version of Don Quixote runs in the Swan Theatre from 25th February, with Gabriel Fleary in the company (he also plays in The Alchemist and Doctor Faustus).  Also in the Swan Gregory Clarke designs sound for The Alchemist and Sola Akingbola composes for Hamlet in the RST.
