Tom Edge is an Emmy award-winning, five-times BAFTA-nominated screenwriter.

He created the multi-award-winning series Vigil (BBC1 / NBC Peacock) starring Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie. The show was nominated for multiple BAFTA awards and won the International Emmy for Best Drama Series in 2022. It was the UK’s most-watched new drama of the year, attracting 10.2 million viewers in the UK in its first week. A third series is currently in pre-production.

To date Tom has adapted five of the Cormoran Strike novels written by Robert Galbraith (JK Rowling), the latest being the four-part Strike: Troubled Blood. In the US the series airs on HBO as C. B. Strike. His adaptation of the latest book, The Ink Black Heart filmed in 2024 and production of The Running Grave is slated for 2025.

Other TV work includes creating the romantic comedy Lovesick which ran for three seasons on Netflix; a four-part adaptation of Imran Mahmood’s novel You Don't Know Me (BBC One / Netflix); a Christmas Day single-drama for Sky, The Last Dragonslayer, and work on seasons one and two of Netflix’s The Crown, notably writing the season two episode 'Paterfamilias', for which Stephen Daldry won the Emmy for Best Directing. Tom was nominated for the WGA Best Drama Writing award.

In film, he wrote the screenplay for the film Judy (dir. Rupert Goold). Playing Judy Garland, Renée Zellweger swept the 2019-20 awards season, winning the Golden Globe, BAFTA, SAG and Academy Award for Best Actress. Tom is currently writing an animated feature film adaptation of JK Rowling’s The Christmas Pig for Warner Bros.

His development slate includes the adaptation of John Fowles’s The Magus (Johan Renck directing, Sam Mendes’s Neal St producing) and a greenlit six-part adaptation of Gorky Park with Clerkenwell Films.
