Jon Elek joined A P Watt as an agent in 2009 and has quickly built up a wide-ranging list including several bestselling and prize-winning authors. Following the completion of a PhD in twentieth century literature, he taught in the English department at UCL and worked as a journalist. He then spent two and a half years at Penguin as assistant editor, publishing both literary and commercial authors.
Jon represents writers in all areas of the market. He is interested in general non-fiction, particularly by specialists and enthusiasts writing for a broad audience. More specifically, he is interested in sport, cookery, music, memoir (all kinds), true crime, health, business, medicine, biography, history and popular science. His fiction tastes include anything with a strong story and well-developed characters, from crime and thrillers to romantic comedies and almost everything in between.
