Alice Willis

Alice Willis was born in Zimbabwe and moved to the UK in 2002 as an unaccompanied minor seeking asylum. She completed her Bachelor of Laws LLB Honours and is now the Director of a company which provides care, support and accommodation for children, young people and adults. Alice is passionate about raising awareness about the difficulties unaccompanied minors seeking asylum face when arriving in the UK. She is married and a mother of two boys. 

Alice’s memoir is a deeply personal account of her journey coming to the UK as an unaccompanied minor seeking asylum. Through her story, she aims to illuminate the harrowing experiences and remarkable resilience of those who, like her, have faced unimaginable adversity yet emerged victorious – and give hope to those who are still navigating the system.

Alice recounts her tumultuous journey, beginning with her escape from the political and civil unrest in Zimbabwe to seeking asylum in the UK. She shares the raw, unfiltered reality of facing systemic racism, navigating the asylum claim process, and enduring personal traumas.
