Britney are a sketch duo made up of Charly Clive and Ellen Robertson. The pair have recently adapted their debut self-titled live show, BRITNEY, for television with Drama Republic. The pilot can now be seen on BBC.
This year, the duo took their new show – FRIENDS AND NOTHING MORE – to the Edinburgh Festival, where it has received rave reviews:
“It is clear it is this friendship that makes for such a strong double act."
"Britney have struck the balance just right for using a personal story as a vehicle for some pretty brilliantly silly sketches."
"Friends and Nothing More is well put together, incredibly clever and relentlessly hilarious throughout.” ★★★★★ Broadway World
"Clive and Robertson’s relationship is absolutely and infectiously joyous, underpinned by an emotional shorthand and the clear understanding they are friends and ‘nothing more’"
"It’s a privilege and a delight to be allowed into their super-tight friendship group for one brief hour." ★★★★½ Chortle
“The chemistry between double act Charly Clive and Ellen Robertson unsurprisingly shines in a fun hour of sketch comedy.”
“Their strong stage presence and finish-each-others’-sentences friendship.”
“Funny throughout, and poignant at times, the show feels like a love letter to their friendship. And we’re being welcomed in, always feeling in on the jokes and along for the ride.”
“On this trajectory, Clive and Robertson will be one of the next big double acts that everyone will be clamouring to see.” ★★★★ Sunday Post
"The BBC should follow up their 2021 TV pilot with a full series sharpish!" ★★★★ The Telegraph
Charly and Ellen are also adapting the play they wrote and that was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019, CONTACT LIGHT, for television with NBC Universal.

Britney took their debut show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and then VAULT Festival in London, where it was recommended by The Guardian, London Evening Standard and Time Out. The show then had two sell-out runs at the Battersea Arts Centre before transferring to Soho Theatre in early 2019 for another sell-out run.

"Taking a wholly unfunny subject and turning it in to a comedy cannot possibly be an easy task, but that’s exactly what Charly Clive and Ellen Robertson have done with Britney. Not only that, they’ve done it incredibly well... Britney is laugh-out-loud funny and told with love", ★★★★★ Theatre Weekly
"At once comforting as it is side-splittingly funny" ★★★★ EdFringeReview
"Performed with great invention and verve . . . We will be seeing a lot of more of them both, I'm sure."★★★★ The Arts Desk
"Heart-achingly funny", Funny Women
"The pair reminded me of a modern-day French and Saunders", A Younger Theatre
"I loved Britney. Moving, funny, wonderfully performed and tremendously well written... Honestly brilliant and should have their own TV series", Mike Bartlett, playwright
