Chris Cantrill is a 3-time Edinburgh Comedy Award nominated comedian, writer and actor from West Yorkshire. Known for mixing quick fire gags with uniquely offbeat observations about modern life, he’s developed a reputation as “one of the most charmingly, daftly funny comics on the scene right now” (The Times). He was one of the nominees for this year’s (2024) Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show, being selected out of 563 eligible shows, and received rave reviews from Chortle, The Telegraph, The Guardian and The Times among others.
Since making his television debut on Harry Hill’s Clubnite (Channel 4), Chris has become a regular on television and radio. He’s appeared in shows such as the BAFTA-winning Alma’s Not Normal (BBC 2), Daddy Issues (BBC 3), Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared (Channel 4) and Avoidance (BBC One).
As a writer, Chris co-created, co-wrote and stars in the BBC Radio 4 Series Icklewick FM which premiered in January this year which The Radio Times called “one of the best comedies of 2024”. He has also written for Dave, Channel 4, BBC Radio 2, CBeebies and CBBC.
As half of the acclaimed sketch double act The Delightful Sausage, Chris has been twice nominated for the ‘Best Show’ award at the Edinburgh Festival (2019 and 2022). Chris and Amy have appeared on Harry Hill’s Clubnite (Channel 4), Question Team (Dave) and as series regulars for Late Night Mash (Dave). They’ve also had their own special on BBC Radio 2 (The Delightful Sausage on: Staycations) and web series for Dave (Great Britain: Wide Open & Ready).
