Deborah Chancellor is a prolific writer of children’s fiction and non-fiction on a wide range of subjects. To date, she has written over 100 books for a variety of leading publishers and been translated into several languages. Deborah has written picture books for pre-schoolers, fiction and non-fiction for children and historical biographies for teenagers. Her most recent non-fiction picture book series Follow my Food is published by Scallywag Press. One of the four titles in this series, Shelly Hen Lays Eggs, was shortlisted for the 2022 Teach Early Years awards. Her biography Real Lives: Harriet Tubman was shortlisted for the 2014 Little Rebels Award.
Deborah first trained as a primary teacher before becoming a children’s book editor at Dorling Kindersley. She now juggles her time between a busy writing and editing career, working in a local Sixth Form library, and giving writing workshops and tutorials for The Royal Literary Fund.
