Dee Whitnell (they/them) is an award-winning, accredited sex educator, content creator, writer, speaker, consultant and activist. They work with global brands and organisations, providing insight into sex education, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, the trans+ and neurodivergent experience, and queer media.
As a journalist, Dee has created content for PinkNews, Gay Times, The Guardian, QueerAF and Cosmo Magazine, among others, pulling in audiences of 6M+ on Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok. They have created and executed show concepts for Hinge and Gay Star News.
Dee founded the UK campaign #TransKidsDeserveToGrowUp, which has been shared by over 4M people. They were a panellist on the first all-trans panel in Parliament and contributed to the success of the first Trans+ History Week. They are a Young Person Trustee for Brook and an ambassador for The Proud Trust, JustLikeUs and Fumble.
Dee's first book Beyond Bananas and Condoms: The LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Sex Education You Never Got at School will be published by JKP in February 2025. Covering both cisgender and trans+ experiences, it is the sex education resource the LGBTQIA+ community has been waiting for.
Dee has three pet rats and their favourite colour (+ special interest) is pink.
