Catherine has worked in the field of leadership development for over 30 years and is one of the UK’s most experienced executive coaches. Her practice, Sandler Consulting, was founded in 1998. She has taught at leading institutions including London Business School and INSEAD and is known for bringing deep psychological expertise to her coaching along with an extensive understanding of business and organisational life. Her coachees are mainly senior individuals and teams in large companies and partnerships. She also coaches entrepreneurs with SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) facing complex challenges as they grow. Catherine enjoys working with high-potential women and has run a Talented Women’s Leadership Programme since 2008. Her clients include John Lewis, EY, Barclays Bank, Channel 4, Burberry, Elsevier, Tesco, Kingsley Napley, Thomson Reuters, WD-40, the BBC and Save the Children UK are among many others.
Catherine has written a wide range of articles for professional journals on topics including the emotional role of the leader in turbulent times, coaching leaders under pressure and tackling bullying at work and has been interviewed for features on leadership, executive stress and related topics in The Financial Times and The Times. She speaks widely on coaching and leadership-related topics as well as running webinars and supervision groups for other coaches. Her 2011 book Executive Coaching: A Psychodynamic Approach is the best-seller in the ‘Coaching in Practice’ series and has been translated into Mandarin for the growing Chinese market.
Catherine is on the Board of Trustees of Family Friends, a London-based charity that befriends and supports struggling families and children. From 2018-2021 she was a volunteer child mentor with the charity.
