Hyemi trained at Hongik University in Seoul and Wimbledon College of Arts. She was the winner of the 2011 Linbury Prize.
Theatre includes: Dido & Aeneas for Theatre Royal Bath; Solaris for Malthouse Melbourn and Lyceum Edinburgh; The End of Eddy for the Unicorn Theatre London; The Seagull, Herons, Morning, Desire Under the Elms (costumes), A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Secret Theatre show 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 for Lyric Hammersmith; Once in a Lifetime (sets), Dirty Butterfly and Sizwe Banzi is Dead for Young Vic and Rice and The Brink for Orange Tree Theatre.
Dance includes New Work New Music for the Royal Ballet; Life’s Witness for ROH2/Linbury Studio Theatre; Orpheus Alive and Unearth for National Ballet of Canada; The Kreutzer Sonata for Ballet Moscow; and Michael Keegan-Dolan/ Teaċ Daṁsa’s MÁM, How To Be a Dancer and Swan Lake/Loch na hEala (costumes) at Dublin Theatre Festival and Sadler’s Wells, for which she won the Irish Times Best Costumes award.
Opera includes Wozzeck, Samson and Delila for the Royal Opera House; Giant at Snape Maltings, Suffolk; La Damnation de Faust (sets) for Glyndebourne Opera, The Skating Rink (costumes) for Garsington Opera, The Return of Ulysses (sets) for ROH/Roundhouse.
