Jessica Zhan Mei Yu is an acclaimed writer, lecturer, and researcher. She holds a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Melbourne. In 2020 she was shortlisted for the Victorian Premier’s Prize for Literature Award in the Unpublished Manuscript category.

In 2015, she was selected as one of Melbourne Writers Festival’s 30 under 30. In 2016, she was one of three commonwealth artists to receive a Royal Over-Seas League Arts Travel Scholarship to take up a 2016 residency at Hospitalfield and present her work with Edinburgh Art Festival 2017.

Her writing has been published in Best Australian Poems, Overland, Yen, The Sydney Morning Herald, The White Review and more. She has won various prizes and fellowships for her writing, including the Felix Meyer Scholarship, Glenfern Fellowship, Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellowship, Young Writers Innovation Prize, John Marsden Prize, the New York Times/Hard Truths Writing Competition and the Best of Express Media Prize.
