John Preston is a former arts editor of the Sunday Telegraph and evening Standard. He is the author of five highly acclaimed novels and a travel book. He lives in London.
His latest book, A VERY ENGLISH SCANDAL, is a behind-the-scenes look at the desperate and scandalous private life of Jeremy Thorpe, MP, and his disgrace and trial in the 1970s. It was adapted by Blueprint Pictures into a major BBC feature written by Russell T. Davies, directed by Stephen Frears and starring Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw. The series has been nominated for a 2019 Golden Globe - Best Limited Television Series.
His novel THE DIG was adapted by Clerkenwell Productions with a script by Moira Buffini and released in January 2021.
He has recently written STONEHOUSE, a 3 parter starring Matthew MacFadyen and Keeley Hawes, and directed by Jon S. Baird.
