Johnny Flynn is an award winning and critically acclaimed actor and musician who has worked extensively across film, television and theatre. His work as a musician has found critical acclaim and a sizeable audience through the years, his most recent musical collaboration with Robert Macfarlane on the album Lost In The Cedar Wood is of particular note. His band JOHNNY FLYNN & THE SUSSEX WIT have released four albums and toured the world.
Flynn has scored and composed for numerous projects, including some in which he also appeared in front of the camera. These include the credits song Queen Bee for Autumn De Wilde’s debut feature EMMA, contributing music to SONG ONE directed by Kate Barker-Froyland and additional songs and music for STARDUST.
Other compositional work in film and television includes THE SCORE, which not only features new compositional work, but re-workings of music from his catalogue, the score for Netflix series THE LAST CZARS alongside band member Joe Zeitlin and collaborating with composer Dan Michaelson on DETECTORISTS. Additionally, Flynn composed the score for director Brian Crano's film A BAG OF HAMMERS for which the soundtrack has been realised and is downloadable.
Additional works of note include the recently composed MAGNITSKY; THE MUSICAL for which songs he won a BBC Audio Drama Award and the music for OAK TREE CLOSE, a dramatic piece for BBC Radio 4 directed by Jessica Dromgoole. In the world of theatre, he has composed an original instrumental score for a production of AS YOU LIKE IT which ran at Shakespeare's Globe and the score for the West End production of TRUE WEST by Sam Shepherd. Flynn composed the score for Amazon Audible's latest production of Agatha Christie's The Mysterious Affair at Styles.
Flynn is has most recently toured Lost In The Cedar Wood with Robert Macfarlane across the UK.
