BBC Goes Wrong – Orders New Comedy Series from Mischief Screen

The BBC has commissioned “The Goes Wrong Show,” from writers Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields. The new series is inspired by Mischief Theatre’s huge hit “The Play That Goes Wrong,” and follows previous BBC specials, “Peter Pan Goes Wrong” and “A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong.” Each of the six episodes will see the over-ambitious Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society take on a different genre and create comedic chaos. Whether dispensing justice in courtroom drama “A Trial to Watch,” or generally sneaking about in spy thriller “The Pilot” be assured that the players will never be far from hilarious disaster.

Henry Lewis, co-writer and co-founder of Mischief Theatre, says “Ever since we first began to make things go wrong all the way back in 2012, it’s been a dream of ours to bring a series based on this joyful brand of humour to the screen so when the BBC commissioned The Goes Wrong Show it was a dream come true.

“We’re so grateful for this incredible opportunity and we can’t wait to get started on making some truly terrible programmes. We are still very short on equipment – if you have a camcorder we can borrow, in any condition, please do fax us.”

“The Goes Wrong Show” will be produced by Big Talk and Mischief Screen in association with Lionsgate UK and YTD HK who have also picked up the Chinese rights. Filming begins in Manchester next month in front of a live studio audience.
