BRITISH COMEDY AWARDS - NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED

Nominations have been announced for this year's BRITISH COMEDY AWARDS which will take place on 12th December.

Up for two awards, including Best New Comedy Programme is ITV2's Ancient Rome set sit-com PLEBS which stars Joel Fry and Ryan Sampson. 

James Corden is nominated for Best Male TV Comic for hosting his Sky One show A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN, which alongside the Rob Brydon fronted WOULD I LIE TO YOU, also recieves a nomination for Best Comedy Panel Show.

Writer-performer Jonny Sweet is nominated for Best Breakthrough Artist after the success of his Sky One show CHICKENS and Jack Whitehall is up for Best TV Comedy Actor for his role in FRESH MEAT.  Whitehall also stars in Bad Education which competes for the Best Sit Com award alongside PEEP SHOW which features Matt King, Isy Suttie and Jim Howick. 

In the Best Sketch Show category, Sky Arts' new comedy PSYCHOBITCHES is nominated.  The show stars Sharon Horgan and its writers include Jeremy Dyson, Lucy Montgomery and Jessie Cave.  Also competing for the Sketch Show gong is the hugely popular HORRIBLE HISTORIES which stars Jim Howick and Dominique Moore.

Up for Best Comedy Entertainment programme is Channel 4's ALAN CARR: CHATTY MAN, on which Stewart Williams is a regular gag writer.
