Jeremy Herrin's revival of Noises Off has had glowing reviews all round!
Noises Off, Michael Frayn's magical farce was last shown at the Lyric Hammersmith in 1982, before its revival at the same theatre last night. Directed by Jeremy Herrin and with design by Max Jones, the comedy has had gleaming reviews with some snippets below. The run is on until the 27th July.
Time Out**** Herrin does it justice, which is pretty much the highest praise possible... This rollicking revival – technical hitches included – reminds you that, when done well, there are few things funnier.
The Evening Standard ****'Every actor is wonderful, from Lloyd Owen as the sardonic director to Daniel Rigby as the marvellously dim-witted leading actor...'
British Theatre Guide: On this occasion, the jokes throughout the 2¼-hour running time are consistently funny, albeit some of them are stage in-jokes, while the slick farcical comedy starts in the second act and doesn’t let up, potentially leaving audience members exhausted from laughter...This limited run lasts only one month and is likely to sell out. It is to be hoped that the producers are already negotiating for a West End transfer in the autumn.'
