National Film Awards announce nominations

The annual awards ceremony celebrating the achievements of established and independent film makers, actors, actresses, and crew who make up the motion picture industry has announced its nominations for 2017, with a plethora of UA talent featured across the categories:

Rachel Tunnard's debut feature ADULT LIFE SKILLS, with cinematography by Bet Rourich, scored six nominations, including Best British Film, Best Director, Best International Film and Best Screenplay.

Also in contention for six awards is Susanna White's OUR KIND OF TRAITOR, which includes nods for Best Director, Best British Film, Best Independent Feature and Best Drama.

Following with five nominations, including Best Director and Best British Film, is Amma Asante's A UNITED KINGDOM, starring Rosamund Pike and Laura Carmichael with editing byJonathan Amos ACE

Garnering four nominations, including Best Comedy and Best Actress for Jennifer Saunders, is ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS:THE MOVIE, produced by Damian Jones

BRIDGET JONES' BABY, co-written by Dan Mazer, also enters the field with four nominations, including Best Comedy.

Director Chris Foggin saw his debut feature KIDS IN LOVE, starring Cara Delevingne, land nominations for Best Director and Best British Film.

DAVID BRENT: LISE ON THE ROAD, produced by Charlie Hanson and starring Ben Bailey Smith, sees itself nominated for Best Comedy, with Ricky Gervais picking up a nod for Best Director.

Fresh from her BIFA win and BAFTA nomination for I, DANIEL BLAKE, Hayley Squires is nominated for Best Breakthrough Performance in a Film, with the film itself, featuring music composed by George Fenton, also nominated for Best Drama. 

Rounding it off, Vadim Jean's BREAKING THE BANK snagged a nomination for Best Comedy, with actress Jana Perez earning a nomination for Best Newcomer.
