UA Clients nominated for the Yoto Carnegie Medal 2023

We are delighted to share that several UA clients have been nominated for the Yoto Carnegie Medals for Writing and Illustration 2023.

In the Writing category, we have:

Raven Winter by Susanna Bailey (Farshore), a story of friendship, family and the belief in a very special relationship with a young raven set against the beautiful and the wintery backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales.

The Blackthorn Branch by Elen Caldecott (Andersen), a magical, atmospheric adventure with Welsh folklore woven throughout, about a young boy lured into the underworld by Fair Folk disguised as everyday children, and his sister Cassie, who must find him.

While the Storm Rages by Phil Earle (Andersen), a thrilling of adventure involving a stolen ark, a motley crew of animals and a crashed Spitfire, from the award-winning and bestselling author of When the Sky Falls.

The Silver Chain by Jion Sheibani (Hot Key), an uplifting, unputdownable, coming-of-age verse novel about family, mental health and the healing power of music, gorgeously illustrated throughout.

Cuckoo Summer by Jonathan Tulloch (Andersen), a beautifully written and moving wartime adventure set in the Lake District

In the Illustration category, we have:

The Blue-Footed Booby written and illustrated by Rob Biddulph (HarperCollins), the newest picture book written and illustrated by the bestselling and award-winning creator behind the viral and phenomenal #DrawWithRob.

Journey to the Last River by Teddy Keen and the Unknown Adventurer (Frances Lincoln), a thrilling tale of a voyage into the Amazon rainforest that looks exactly like a real scrap book inside, with smudged pages, handwritten-looking text and even die-cut piranha bite marks from a previous scrape.

 

Congratulations to all the nominated creators! The longlist will be announced on 15th February 2023, the shortlist on 15th March 2023, with the final winners selected in June 2023.
