Amanda graduated from Cambridge University with an M.A. in Modern Languages and an M. Phil in Linguistics. She worked as a financial adviser in the City until starting a family, after which she concentrated on motherhood for several years. She has written a variety of scripts and plays as follows.

HUNGER 2019	Arcola Theatre and Jump Spark Productions	An adaptation of Nobel prize-winning Knut Hamsun's novel "Hunger". A young man moves to the city with high hopes but soon finds himself on the streets. A story of the struggle to survive and how we cling on to our dreams almost as tightly as we cling onto life.

IN DEFENCE OF LAUGHTER (previously IN QUEST OF LIGHT)	A staged reading of this production, with professional cast and director, was given at The Leatherhead Theatre in Spring 2013	An exploration of Molière’s 5 year long struggle with the Church over the banning of his comic masterpiece TARTUFFE. The power of laughter has always threatened those who seek to impose their own narrow vision of the world. Molière’s battle for freedom of self-expression against the forces of religious oppression, at huge personal cost, is a story for our times.
RAFFERTY		A modern day companion piece to IN DEFENCE OF LAUGHTER. A middle-aged widow finds solace and an admirer at her local church, much to the consternation of her free-thinking teenage daughter.
SAVE THE DATE		One silver wedding; two surprise celebrations - inevitably for the same day. With disastrous results.
A NEED TO PLEASE		A leading academic, researching George Eliot, notices increasing parallels between the writer’s choices and psyche, and her own. When she sees the same pattern repeating in the life of her most promising female student, she is forced to re-assess how much has really changed for women and how much is always the same.
