Molière’s battle for freedom of self-expression against the forces of religious oppression, at huge personal cost, is a story for our times. |
RAFFERTY | A modern day companion piece to IN DEFENCE OF LAUGHTER. A middle-aged widow finds solace and an admirer at her local church, much to the consternation of her free-thinking teenage daughter.
SAVE THE DATE | One silver wedding; two surprise celebrations - inevitably for the same day. With disastrous results.
A NEED TO PLEASE | A leading academic, researching George Eliot, notices increasing parallels between the writer’s choices and psyche, and her own. When she sees the same pattern repeating in the life of her most promising female student, she is forced to re-assess how much has really changed for women and how much is always the same.
