Pete Jordi Wood

Pete Jordi Wood (he/him) is represented as a screenwriter by Giles Smart at United Agents, and Lindsey Bender and Michelle Kroes at CAA. He is gay, non-binary, has a disability, and lives in social housing in Cornwall. His Instagram handle is @petejordiwood, and his website is petejordiwood.com

Pete serves as an Executive Producer on the forthcoming screen adaptation of his queer fairy tale picture book “The Dog and the Sailor” (Puffin), in development as an animated musical feature in Hollywood.

As an author and illustrator, Pete is represented by Claire Wilson at Rogers, Coleridge and White. He has written and illustrated two books for Penguin Random House. Pete is now developing a number of LGBTQ+ inclusive fantasy projects for stage and screen, based on his IP “Tales From Beyond the Rainbow” (Puffin Classics) - an anthology of historically grounded queer folk and fairy tales lost from history. As a screenwriter and playwright, Pete wrote the original Channel 4 drama “I Don’t Care”, the BBC radio drama “Lifted”, and has worked in writersrooms for Channel 4’s “Shameless”, the BBC’s “EastEnders”, and numerous writersrooms for shows in development. He has developed his own original TV drama formats and features in the U.K. and U.S.A. crafting treatments, bibles, feature screenplays and TV drama pilots on commission to clients including Maor Azran, Celador, Channel 4, E4, BBC 3, CBBC, Nikelodean, The Forge, Red Productions, Endor, Bandit, Touchpaper, and Company Pictures. 

Pete has a background in animation, having studied a BA degree in Animation and an MA degree in illustration. He is currently working towards a Ph.D in queer magic, myth and folklore. He shares his research and illustrations online via his YouTube series and website “Basic Witch” at basicwitch.co.uk, and @realbasicwitch across social media. 

Competitions and Awards: 

For screenwriting, Pete received the John Brabourne Award from the Film & Television Charity. He was selected for Channel 4’s Coming Up Scheme, resulting in his original drama “I Don’t Care”, for which Channel 4 nominated him for a BAFTA Craft Award. He was a finalist for the BBC iPlayer Shorts competition, leading to a script commission for his short film “Cosmic Latte”. For theatre, he was a finalist for the Nick Darke Award, shortlisted for Soho Theatre’s Verity Bargate Award, and shortlisted for the Theatre Royal Stratford’s Perfect Pitch competition. For creative writing, he was selected as a finalist for the Folklore Society’s Katharine Briggs Award, and shortlisted for Penguin Random House’s Write Now competition.
