Jamie Demetriou is one of the UK’s leading comedy actors, writer-performers and character comedians.
Jamie has just finished shooting a role in the next Noah Baubach’s next feature and is currently filming THE ROSES alongside Olivia Coleman, Ncuti Gatwa and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Last year Jamie released his Netlfix comedy special A WHOLE LIFETIME WITH JAMIE DEMETRIOU which is a hilarious hour of songs and sketches depicting a character’s whole life from womb to old age. The show was received brilliantly, earning Jamie a BAFTA nomination for ‘male performance in a comedy’ as well as for his writing.
In 2020, Jamie won three BAFTAs for his series, STATH LETS FLATS. The show won the Best Scripted Comedy BAFTA and Jamie personally won the Best Male Performance in a Comedy Programme BAFTA and the Best Writer: Comedy BAFTA. In 2022, Jamie won his fourth BAFTA for the series - for Best Male Performance in a Comedy Programme once again.
His hit debut series STATH LETS FLATS, which he wrote and in which he stars in as the titular character, has run for three seasons on Channel 4 and received widespread, exuberant critical acclaim. It airs in the US on HBO Max. Series 3 started aired in late 2021 and received a host of 5 star reviews. The Independent described the first episode as - “One of the funniest half-hours of TV in a long time.” Canada's The Globe and Mail described the series as, "A masterpiece of British weirdness." Vulture Magazine's reviewer wrote - "It was exactly what I’d hoped it would be — funny and absorbing but not demanding or mean . . . Now I’ve run out of episodes, and I miss it already."
In early 2021, Jamie filmed a regular role in Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s Apple series, THE AFTERPARTY, which also stars Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, Zoe Chao, Ben Schwartz, Ike Barinholtz, Ilana Glazer, Dave Franco and John Early.
As an actor, Jamie Demetriou has graced our screens – big and small – in a host of productions recently. On the feature front - Jamie has roles in Lena Dunham's CATHERINE CALLED BIRDY, Netflix’s EUROVISION with Rachel McAdams and Will Ferrell, Disney’s CRUELLA with Emma Stone, and indie feature THE ELECTRICAL LIFE OF LOUIS WAIN with Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy. He will soon be seen in Warner Bros' tentpole feature - BARBIE.
Further feature credits include The Professor in Working Title’s smash hit, PADDINGTON 2, the headmaster in Disney's PINOCCHIO and the role of Dimidius in HORRIBLE HISTORIES: THE MOVIE. He also played the lead villain Mr. Ahmad in the Netflix global-release feature GAME OVER, MAN! alongside the WORKAHOLICS team.
Jamie’s other recent TV roles include a regular role in TBS’ Miracle Workers with Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi and a semi-regular role in Hulu’s THE GREAT with Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult. Jamie also played the regular role of Marcus in Hulu's FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL, created by Mindy Kaling and based on Richard Curtis's hit 90s film. Other television roles include Steve Coogan’s THIS TIME WITH ALAN PARTRIDGE for BBC One, Julia Davis’ hit series for Sky and HBO, the BAFTA-winning SALLY 4EVER, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s phenomenon, FLEABAG, for the BBC. More recently, Jamie played a guest lead in an episode of the hit mockumentary series, DOCUMENTARY NOW! and played a recurring role in LIVE AT THE MOTH CLUB for Dave.
Jamie has voiced characters in various features and TV series. He appeared as Dr. Phillips in NIGHT AT THE MUSEM: KAHMUNRAH RISES AGAIN. He also played Moriarty, opposite Johnny Depp’s Sherlock, in Paramount’s animation feature film SHERLOCK GNOMES.
Jamie wrote and starred in his own Sky Halloween Comedy Short, OH GOD.
A US version of STATH LETS FLATS is currently in development.
Jamie's incredible debut character show PEOPLE DAY was one of the overwhelming critical hits of the 2013 Edinburgh Festival. In 2022 he appeared as David in the sketch show RED FLAG created by and starring Kiell Smith-Bynoe. And in 2023, Jaimie was the voice of dog Chester in film STRAYS, which stars Jaimie Foxx and Will Ferrell.
